And then there were 3

No Wire Hangers!!!!!!!!

So today a judge at the Suffolk Family and Probate court signed a piece of paper and made me a mother..... It is very strange to say, I have a daughter. I am not sure if I will get used to saying it. But it is official. I adopted my godsister.

When she was about a year and a half, my mother was appointed her legal guardian. We been taking care of her since I was a sophmore in highschool and 17 years later, she is now my child. It has been roller coaster... she had serious medical problems when she was born and I found myself a frequent visitor to the Children's Hospital Emergency room that a good number of years. But with regular medical care she thrived and if you see her today you would never guess she almost died a couple of times as a child.

Funny thing is that, I did it without an attorney and what I thought would cost me a couple thousand dollars only cost me about two hundred, and that was for postage and a newspaper ad. A few years ago I asked a lawyer how much it would cost and her said about 3k, which was the main reason I did not do it. But everything happens for a reason and when it is suppose to happen. The process took 7 months. And that was only because I could not find her biological mother to sign the surrender form (the newspaper ad did not work for her because the was a last known address on file with the court). Like it said, everything in due time.

She has turned out to be a wonderfully intellegent, beautiful young woman whole has received a full four year scholarship to a boston university. She has been in the newspaper, recipient of several awards in boston and much much more. In eleven days she will be 18 and beginning a new phase of her life... I am glad we had a hand in that, it has been a group effort with her... and continues to be.

I still can't believe that I am someone's mother...

This Just In

Not much is happening in my world.....

I finally decided to register my business and I am currently working on some marketing materials, which should be done something this week. Next will be hitting the street to get the word out there and increase my clients. I am currently working with a couple clients and have been for a while. It will be a pleasure to take this project from just an idea to a very profitable company. It is the ride that I am looking forward to the most... the money will be an added bonus.

My little sister had her prom last week and she was stunning.... I mean the girl is a beauty, she will be breaking many hearts before long. Still can't believe she is graduation from high school in less than a week. And so smart - full scholarship to a local university, honors, valedictorian, top student in her school... nice for a kid who barely pass middle school with all D's. What a difference a summer makes I guess.

Wedding plans are moving along - this is the August Wedding. Much to be done but it is moving along. I ended up attending another wedding about 2 weeks ago.. and it was an experience to say the least. I've never been to a traditional African wedding celebration before so I did not know what to expect and considering that the entire thing was not in English. I would have to say that I did a really good job not looking confused at all. The bride was very beautiful and was able to make a dress change. The fashion left me mouth open the entire night. Lets just say I now have several ideas for my own wedding fashion.

Well I have a very busy day tomorrow so Sweetest Dreams to all.....

Three down, another one to go

Well..... today was the perfect day for a wedding. Although it was a bit chilly the sun was bright and beautiful. The bride was beautiful - she wore white (funny that I mention it because so far this is the first pure white wedding gown I've seen). The colors were green and it was a really nice spring green not too pale and not too dark. Just plain beautiful.

The groom was handsome, he looked a bit nervous to be standing there for all to see his reaction to his bride. When she walked in, he was full of emotion. She was stunning as her father walked her down the isle.... the wedding was very beautiful - there was a poem read by a performance artist accompanied by the groom's daughter on violin. It was touching, it was romantic, it was beyond words. (Makes you want to run of and buy some romance).

Oh did I mention that all the ladies night girls were in attendance.....yes and we all looked fabulous.... Just plain beautiful.

All in all a beautiful day for a wedding.

Brides Brides Everywhere

Well it was a hell of a weekend.

The wedding marathon began with me heading out to CT on Friday afternoon for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for the first wedding. It was pouring and driving was kinda a bitch. Before I left, I went to get my hair done so that I would not have much trouble on Saturday but that did not work out as I expected. My hair looked fabulous but by the time I got to the church, all my curls were gone. No worries. I was great to see the bride and groom and visit with the families (some of whom I'd not seen in a couple of years). Rehearsal was good and the dinner was nice (especially the open bar). Luckily I stayed at the hotel where the dinner was hosted, nice right. So I got my instructions, said hello to everyone so they know me because I had to give them direction the next day... make sure that everyone was there and had everything they needed.

Saturday was an early start... the maid of honor called me at 7 to ask me if I had the ring bearer's box, the rings needed to be put into the box)... I did have it but that meant I was up earlier than I wanted to be. So me being me, I fell back to sleep and got up late.... so I was rushing to get to the hotel to meet the Groom and Groomsmen. I did get there a good deal ahead of the limo - once it arrived made sure all was set for the reception and the grooms parents and brides uncle were off to the church. Then I headed there myself.

Everyone looked beautiful, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. The bride was stunning. I get everyone wrangled.... and we were to begin at 11 - actually slightly after 11. There were a few late guests......once they were seated, it was time to close the doors and line up the bridesmaids, the groomsmen were already at the altar...... then it was her show. She looked fabulous. There was a full mass and when that was completed about 45 minutes later, it was time to greet her guess and take pictures. We headed to the Pier, the sun made an appearance just so she could take pictures outside. And I headed to the reception to await their arrival... the guess were enjoying cocktails and we got them ready for the bride and groom and the bridal party to be announced. All went off smoothly... but 3 pm - everything was set and the eating began. I said my goodbyes and prepared to leave. Second wedding dinner began at 5:30 and it was a 2 1/2 hour drive.

I left the first wedding reception at 3:30. I took the wrong road and ended up taking longer than expected. But I finally arrived at the reception. The bride look stunning in her off white strapless gown. She went with a low key wedding. A private ceremony in the afternoon and then dinner with family and friends that evening. A piano player keep the atmosphere mellow and romantic. Granted I was at the "singles" table... sort of - there were 2 couples there and the rest were females. No single guys to speak of. And isn't that the point of most receptions, to hook up your single friends now that you are hitched. :-) It was elegant and romantic and very low key - the bride and groom made the rounds and it was very intimate.

I have to say congratulations to both of them and they begin a new phase of their lives.

Well on to number 3... that will be this Sunday - May 6, 2007

So the adventure begins

Well it is April... and that means my wedding season begins. In 26 days, two of my really close friends will be getting married. The first wedding - in CT - will be part work part pleasure. I am helping her with some of the coordination the day before and the day of her wedding. So I will be heading to CT either on Thursday or Friday before so I can prepare and get everything ready for the rehearsal and then the actually ceremony. Then I get to leave and head back to MA to attend the wedding dinner of my other friend. She is having a private ceremony during the day and then a dinner about 6 that evening. I am very happy for both of them.

Then the following Sunday, May 6, one of my best friends from high school is getting married to her long time boyfriend. We had a surprise bridal brunch for her yesterday- it was just the girls from our little Ladies Night group.. she was really surprised. Her official bridal shower will be later this month - that will be attended by all her family and friends.

So for the next month all my Saturdays are completely booked with one event or another. The next wedding will be in August but there is still lots to do when it comes to that one, since I am helping her coordinate that one as well.

So there will be (in my small circle of girlfriends) including myself - 3 single gals. Everyone else will be part of a set.

It Would Be Nice!!!

Court:
to try to win somebody’s love
to spend time together in a romantic relationship as a prelude to getting married

When did art courting become obsolete? Today there is not effort put it to the pursuit of a mate. It is something that many men lack today. Now it is all about hitting it and that is it. When then the games begin….where did the honest and real act of expression interest in the opposite sex fall by the wayside? I am a bit old fashion in thinking that a lady should be courted (properly that is). Maybe I will open a school.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a womanPhenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care.'
Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Happy Birthday to a Special Boy

Today is my nephew's birthday.... his is 6 years old. He is such a cutie pie and unfortunately I did not get a chance to see him today to give him the biggest hug and kiss his auntie could manage. I did talk to him on the phone and I will get to see him tomorrow. Yeah...

New Beginnings

Well all I can say is that the year has started off with a big bang. And I plan on keeping the momentum going until the biggest birthday bash in November. Yeah I am thinking about November now. I plan on having a kick arse birthday celebration on November 30. I am planning on having my closest friends (and whoever they bring) and family with me to celebrate my 35th birthday. So I am beginning to plan now. Invitations will be mailed - no emails or phone calls. So please if you are among the lucky, please understand that I really want you there with me on that day and RSVP... yeah there will be a registry of some sort (not sure exactly, but be prepared).

The first 18 days of the new year...... have been wonderful and I expect the rest of the year to be spectacular. I know that I've mention a couple of times already but I have the privilege of attending maybe 5 weddings this year. The first 2 are on the same day (April 28th) one in CT and the other in MA. I am so excited - I am glad that I will be able to attend both because both of these women are very special to me and I would hate to have to miss their wedding. So I have committed myself to making it to both. Then the following weekend on May 5 one of my best friends from high school is getting married to her long time boyfriend. This was a surprise because she only announced it in September. Then I have another best friend who wedding is in August...(whew, I get a really nice break between May and August).... I am helping out with details on two of the weddings. April and August. So I will be very busy helping them stay as calm as possible by doing some of the grunt work. There is another wedding in October (not 100% sure about that - space might be an issue- will wait to see if I get an invite..).

Now, you may be thinking - wow her boyfriend is going to have a hell of a time at all these weddings. Don't worry, he will be fine with the entire situation... since he does not exist. I will be attending these weddings solo. I really don't want to but I don't really have a choice since I don't have a man. I told a friend that I might just rent one or a couple just for the occasions....LOL Yeah I laughed at first but then I gave the idea a serious thought... before I completely dismissed it.

You never know... maybe WalMart might have a mega sale... and roll back the prices on gorgeous men - I could buy 2 get one free. Since I am going to 2 on the same day, I will only need one man for that one....
