Brides Brides Everywhere

Well it was a hell of a weekend.

The wedding marathon began with me heading out to CT on Friday afternoon for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for the first wedding. It was pouring and driving was kinda a bitch. Before I left, I went to get my hair done so that I would not have much trouble on Saturday but that did not work out as I expected. My hair looked fabulous but by the time I got to the church, all my curls were gone. No worries. I was great to see the bride and groom and visit with the families (some of whom I'd not seen in a couple of years). Rehearsal was good and the dinner was nice (especially the open bar). Luckily I stayed at the hotel where the dinner was hosted, nice right. So I got my instructions, said hello to everyone so they know me because I had to give them direction the next day... make sure that everyone was there and had everything they needed.

Saturday was an early start... the maid of honor called me at 7 to ask me if I had the ring bearer's box, the rings needed to be put into the box)... I did have it but that meant I was up earlier than I wanted to be. So me being me, I fell back to sleep and got up late.... so I was rushing to get to the hotel to meet the Groom and Groomsmen. I did get there a good deal ahead of the limo - once it arrived made sure all was set for the reception and the grooms parents and brides uncle were off to the church. Then I headed there myself.

Everyone looked beautiful, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. The bride was stunning. I get everyone wrangled.... and we were to begin at 11 - actually slightly after 11. There were a few late guests......once they were seated, it was time to close the doors and line up the bridesmaids, the groomsmen were already at the altar...... then it was her show. She looked fabulous. There was a full mass and when that was completed about 45 minutes later, it was time to greet her guess and take pictures. We headed to the Pier, the sun made an appearance just so she could take pictures outside. And I headed to the reception to await their arrival... the guess were enjoying cocktails and we got them ready for the bride and groom and the bridal party to be announced. All went off smoothly... but 3 pm - everything was set and the eating began. I said my goodbyes and prepared to leave. Second wedding dinner began at 5:30 and it was a 2 1/2 hour drive.

I left the first wedding reception at 3:30. I took the wrong road and ended up taking longer than expected. But I finally arrived at the reception. The bride look stunning in her off white strapless gown. She went with a low key wedding. A private ceremony in the afternoon and then dinner with family and friends that evening. A piano player keep the atmosphere mellow and romantic. Granted I was at the "singles" table... sort of - there were 2 couples there and the rest were females. No single guys to speak of. And isn't that the point of most receptions, to hook up your single friends now that you are hitched. :-) It was elegant and romantic and very low key - the bride and groom made the rounds and it was very intimate.

I have to say congratulations to both of them and they begin a new phase of their lives.

Well on to number 3... that will be this Sunday - May 6, 2007

So the adventure begins

Well it is April... and that means my wedding season begins. In 26 days, two of my really close friends will be getting married. The first wedding - in CT - will be part work part pleasure. I am helping her with some of the coordination the day before and the day of her wedding. So I will be heading to CT either on Thursday or Friday before so I can prepare and get everything ready for the rehearsal and then the actually ceremony. Then I get to leave and head back to MA to attend the wedding dinner of my other friend. She is having a private ceremony during the day and then a dinner about 6 that evening. I am very happy for both of them.

Then the following Sunday, May 6, one of my best friends from high school is getting married to her long time boyfriend. We had a surprise bridal brunch for her yesterday- it was just the girls from our little Ladies Night group.. she was really surprised. Her official bridal shower will be later this month - that will be attended by all her family and friends.

So for the next month all my Saturdays are completely booked with one event or another. The next wedding will be in August but there is still lots to do when it comes to that one, since I am helping her coordinate that one as well.

So there will be (in my small circle of girlfriends) including myself - 3 single gals. Everyone else will be part of a set.
